How To Tip Movers
We are often asked “What is the proper amount for tipping the movers?”. While there are no easy answers or proper calculations to base a tip amount on, below are some suggestions.
Base the tip on job performance – a bad attitude and indifferent work habits would hardly be considered tip worthy. If, however, you think your crew was attentive, helpful and professional, then give what you believe is fair.
Consider your move when you want to determine a proper dollar amount to tip your mover. Do you have a lot of very heavy furniture, narrow or winding stairs, a steep driveway or sidewalk? Did the movers work late into the evening to complete your move? Was it really hot, cold or raining?
A tip can be cash at the end of the day or buying the crew lunch or even both.
If possible give each worker their own tip. It shows that you recognize and appreciate their individual efforts.
Don’t give the guys alcoholic beverages at the end of the day.
Tipping your movers is not expected, but is appreciated when given. More than anything, it is a sign that you recognized their effort and thought it worthy.
