8 Tips To Help Your Pet Handle The Move & Adjust To Their New Environment

Keep your pet’s routine as close to normal as possible.
Use pet carriers for dogs and cats during transport. For peace of mind, we also recommend keeping pets confined in a carrier on moving day. You should get your pet used to a carrier ahead of time if this is outside their normal routine.
Acclimate your pet for the road trip.
Update your pet’s identification tags with the new address and make sure you have a recent photo on hand in case your pet becomes lost.
In advance of the move, be sure to locate hotels along your route that are pet-friendly.
In case of emergencies, have the name and number of a veterinarian in your new city handy.
Keep an updated record of  your pet’s vaccinations in case hotels or kennels require proof during the trip.
Have all the familiar and necessary pet items readily available in the new home on day one.
