Alabama Association for Parents of Children with Visual Impairments

Co-Owner Scott Planson and his wife, Lori Planson are members of the Alabama Association for Parents of the Visually Impaired (AAPVI). Their daughter, Emma Planson, was born with a rare eye condition by the name of bilateral microphthalmia (under-developed eyes). She wears prosthetic shells over her small eyes and can see light and colors. Lori serves as Treasurer and Secretary of the Association. Joe Planson, co-owner of CSMI and grandfather of Emma, also serves on the Board of Directors. Many hours are put into the planning of events for members, fundraiser ideas, education seminars, discovering recreational activities for the families, and resources for parents to access should they decide that the public school is the right setting for their child.
