Moving To Alabama: A Brief Guide To Help You Make An Informed Opinion

Moving To Alabama: A Brief Guide To Help You Make An Informed Opinion

Are you thinking about moving to Alabama? If so, you’re not alone. The Yellowhammer State is one of the fastest-growing states and is attracting folks from all over the country- from Maine to California and everywhere in between.

Roll Tide or War Eagle

If Alabama is on your shortlist, there’s one thing you really need to know about us and that is we LOVE college football. In fact, should you determine that a relocation to the Heart of Dixie is the way to go, you’ll want to decide ahead of time if you’ll be rooting for Crimson Tide or Auburn’s Tigers. Trust us, you will be asked on more than one occasion which team is you’re favorite. You may want to practice shouting Roll Tide for Alabama or War Eagle for Auburn and see which one rolls off the tongue better.

Beyond football, Alabama is a great place to live and play

If you’ve never visited Alabama before, you might be surprised to learn that it’s not a flat state. In fact, the foothills of the Appalachian extend into Alabama and there are all sorts of mountains, falls, and valleys as well as beaches and plains to explore. Simply put, we are a mixed bag of geography which allows for all sorts of fun, outdoor pursuits. What’s more, the food is amazing, the history is rich, there are festivals galore, and you don’t necessarily need to own a snow shovel.

A quick note about the weather in Alabama

Alabama has mild winters and hot summers. Humidity can be an issue and we get plenty of rain too. What’s more November through April is tornado season in Alabama (although you cannot rule them out during other times of the year). If you’re coming from a place where tornados are not a concern, you’ll want to familiarize yourself with safety measures. Hint… make sure you have helmets/hard hats at home and a safe place to go should you need to take shelter.
